Roblox Shirt Template Maker
A Roblox shirt template is a 585 by 559 pixel PNG whose regions map onto the avatar's torso, arms and back. Fit artwork to that exact canvas here, with the panel layout drawn over the preview, and export a clean PNG with no upload.

Roblox Shirt Template Maker explained
Roblox clothing is not a picture pasted onto a character. It is a UV map: a 585 by 559 canvas divided into rectangles, each of which is wrapped onto a specific surface of the avatar. The front of the torso, the back, both arms and the tops and bottoms of each limb all have their own region, and their positions are fixed.
Which is why “just resize it to 585 by 559” produces a shirt with the design running sideways across a sleeve. The dimension is necessary and nowhere near sufficient — the artwork has to be laid out on the template, not merely scaled to its size.
What this page does is the geometry half: it holds the exact canvas, draws the panel regions over the preview so you can see where each part of your image will land, and exports a clean 585 by 559 PNG with transparency preserved. It runs in your browser, which matters because Roblox charges to upload and a wrong file costs real currency.
Pants use the same canvas with a different panel layout — the pants template page covers that one.
If your artwork is currently a JPEG and you need transparency back, you cannot recover it — repaint the clear areas and convert it to PNG first.
What the 585 by 559 canvas contains
The canvas is a flattened net of the avatar's upper body. Each region is wrapped onto one surface, and a pixel outside its region appears on the wrong part of the character.
| Region | Wraps onto | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Torso front | Chest | Artwork centred on the canvas rather than on this panel |
| Torso back | Back | Left empty, so the shirt is blank from behind |
| Left and right arms | Sleeves | Design rotated, because sleeve panels run vertically |
| Caps | Shoulder and hem edges | Ignored, leaving visible seams |
Why the export must be a PNG
Roblox templates rely on transparency: anything you leave transparent shows the avatar's skin or the layer beneath, and that is how a shirt gets a neckline rather than a square collar.
JPEG has no alpha channel at all, so a JPEG export fills every transparent pixel with a solid colour — usually white — and the result is a character wearing a white box. This page defaults to PNG for exactly that reason, and the format picker keeps WebP available for anyone who wants it for other purposes.
Fit whole image, not fill frame
For clothing, Fit whole image is almost always the right mode. It scales your artwork down until all of it is inside the canvas and pads the rest, so nothing at the edges is silently cut away — and on a UV layout, an edge that is cut is a seam that does not line up.
Fill frame has its uses when your source is already laid out on a template and merely the wrong size. When in doubt, fit and pad: a small border is fixable, a truncated panel is not.
Starting from the official template
The most reliable workflow is to download Roblox's own clothing template, paint on it at full size, and use this page only to restore the exact canvas after an editor has resized or padded it. Editors do that more often than people expect — a save-for-web step, an export preset or a crop-to-content can all shift a template by a few pixels, which is enough to misalign the seams.
Checking the exported dimensions before paying to upload is the cheap half of that process. This page reports both the source and the frame size beside the preview.
Frequently asked questions
What size is a Roblox shirt template?
585 by 559 pixels, exported as a PNG. The dimension is fixed because the canvas is a UV map: each rectangle on it wraps onto a specific surface of the avatar, so a differently sized file puts the panels in the wrong places.
Why does my shirt look wrong on the avatar?
Almost always layout rather than size. The canvas is a net of panels — torso front, torso back, sleeves and caps — and artwork centred on the canvas as a whole lands across several of them. Paint on the official template so each panel gets its own part of the design.
Can I upload a JPEG as a Roblox shirt?
You should not. JPEG has no transparency, so every area you meant to leave clear becomes solid — usually white — and the avatar wears a box. Export PNG, which is what this page defaults to for clothing, and keep the alpha channel intact.
Should I use fill frame or fit whole image?
Fit whole image, in nearly every case. It scales your artwork until all of it is inside the 585 by 559 canvas and pads the remainder, so no panel edge is trimmed. Fill frame crops, and on a UV layout a cropped edge means a seam that does not meet.
Does the template size ever change?
Roblox has used 585 by 559 for classic clothing for a long time, but the platform also has newer layered and 3D clothing systems with entirely different requirements. Check which system your item targets — this page is for the classic shirt and pants templates.
Does this page upload my design to Roblox?
No, and it has no connection to Roblox at all. It formats the file on your own machine; you then upload it through Roblox yourself. Since uploading costs Robux, checking the dimensions and the transparency here first is worth the extra minute.
